Ruxandra Visoiu from R&R Partners was featured on the Lawyer Stories platform with her story about becoming a lawyer and what drove her to this profession:
I am a practicing attorney in Bucharest, Romania and I really love my job. But I wasn’t one of those children who always dreamed of going to law school when they grew up.
When I was little, one of my favorite TV shows was Ally McBeal- that show made lawyering look kind of cool! Although somehow I understood that the real life of a lawyer is more about work and papers, less about fun and office gossip. All things aside, when I was a junior in high school I finally decided I wanted to study law, to the surprise of my parents, who were both engineers and had raised me with a love for math. Choosing law was the best decision I ever made! I really like interacting with people and putting my problem solving skills to use, so being a lawyer suits me well.
After two years of working in a big law firm, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own practice, R&R Partners. We are a boutique law firm specialized in international business and immigration law. There are many people, especially from the US and UK, who want to relocate to Romania either to be with family or have smaller taxes on their business, invest in existing Romanian businesses, and that is very exciting to us. Romania is quite a small country, but with a lot of potential and a fast developing economy. We are very happy to be part of the change!
